Women and Children's Mystery Villiage Camp 2024

October 4-6 2024 at Mystery Bay

How to have a good time at women & children’s village camp…

Hi 🙂

It’s great you are considering coming along to the mystery village woman and children’s camp!

Camp is a juicy hot-pot of awesome women and children. It’s a great chance to come together and share our gifts and our stories or in other words, our medicine.

It can also be overwhelming and intense to navigate so many people all at once and/or overwhelming for young children at first.

Here are some points to consider when preparing for camp.

Opening circle and closing circle are potent moments in the flow of the camp.

Consider trying to come with enough time before opening so you can set up a bit and ground before stepping into the circle to fully arrive.

This camp is co-creative .

Basically, this means if you come, you are part of creating it with your energy whether you decide to run a workshop or just there interacting in simple, lovely ways.
There is no pressure to ‘do’ anything but there is a strong invitation to engage in ways that feel true and good for you.
While there are a core group of people who pull it together and hold the space, it is not “facilitated” as such.
It is up to you to think well about you and your children’s needs in terms of food, set up and managing the intensity.

Cost: there’s options.

Camp fees only for 2 nights – $20

Camp fees for 2 nights plus meals Friday and Saturday night – donation of $5-10 per meal per person – $40

Camp fees plus meals plus a donation to the camp set up. Donation is gift economy so whatever you feel you can contribute would be most appreciated.

There will be workshops spaces for any person to share their gifts.

There will be two workshop spaces (enclosed tents) and the main camp space set up at camp.

There are also the beaches and the point (another great spot for singing or meditation or some kind of gathered workshop).

Blackboards will be set up, one for each day.

People can put on the blackboard that they are leading something eg. Yoga at 730am at the point. This gives us some structure to share our gifts as we feel to at the time. It is not a requirement.

Community kitchen facilities.

There will be a communal kitchen set up with:

  • tables
  • about 6 burners
  • water drums set up
  • a washing up station for people to use as needed

You still need to BYO plates, cups, bowls, utensil, pots etc.

Dinners provided if you like

Friday and Saturday night there will be:

  • a simple kids meal at 5pm and
  • a simple adults meal at 7pm

Available for a suggested donation of $5-10pp

Got young kids?

If you have young children, you may want to invite a friend or arrange to camp with another woman with children a similar age to yours to create a kind of base camp chill zone, somewhere to go if it all gets too much.

Parents of young people.

We encourage women with young children to ask for help when they need it.

Many of us are mothers and understand what you are holding as a mother.

It is often a gift to be asked.

It can also be a great opportunity to find allies in other mothers who are going through a similar journey.

We have probably seen it all before…

Another aspect of parenting young children is handling our kids unruly or overtired behaviour such as interrupting ceremony with screams, cries, silliness or pooing in the middle of camp.

Most mothers have seen it all before, Don’t worry, there is understanding.

Noise sensitivity.

It can be really exciting to all be together in this setting. Women generally love to chat, sing and carry on late into the night so if you need a quieter sleeping space, camp a little bit away from the main space and bring some ear plugs so you get the rest you need.

Saturday night fun

Saturday night there will be a blackboard for songs, stories, poems, music at the main camp for anyone who is inspired to make an offering.

Camping arrangement with management.

Camp fees can be paid at our villiage camp rather than at the site office.

The camp management have agreed to this.

Cash is preferred at $10 per night per adult.

Friday and Saturday night dinner

Food and chai are available for cash donation. If you want to make a cash offering to camp set up/ infrastructure as well it would be most appreciated.

We want grannies!

A request came from Jan Henry who came to camp in autumn and who is 90:

Bring your grandmother!

It is a rare opportunity to be together as women in an intergenerational community.

Part of the vision of womans camp is to weave connection across the ages, find ways to share our stories and learn from one another.

Bring a granny, even if its not your granny!

The Mystery

Woman’s camp is a mysterious wondrous creative space.

It invites us to explore and journey with each other in a setting that is ancient and also pushes into new places in our experience of being women in our culture.

It’s a wonderful place for ourselves and our children to be held in a little pocket of potent feminine vibration, to explore how it feels, what flows, what are the challenges, what ignites in us when we immerse in the magic of woman together.

I am excited.

I hope you decide to come and step into the mystery xo.
